This project is a small collection of still life images intended to test out the studio rig I created in C4D. Mimicking a real life photography set up, I am using a curved backdrop, which is easily editable and provides something for the light to bounce off of. Next I am using three initial light sources. A large key light for my main beam, controlling the direction of the shadows, a fill light, which gives us detail in those shadows 'filling' them in, and lastly a rim light to pop the silhouette of the shapes in places. These lights, much like the standard camera, are all targeted in the scene at the null object which is at the centre spawn coordinates of the scene at 0, 0, 0. lastly ambient light and reflections are generated with a simple HDRI of a studio or workshop. All these elements, the backdrop, lights, camera and environment object are then made the children of a null in C4D and added into my content browser. I can then easily import them into a new scene, instantly giving me customisable targeted studio lighting at the drop of a hat.
More experiments on this little personal project coming soon...
